Rather than resting a claim on one study or authority, you assemble many independent lines of evidence that all converge on the same conclusion. Each line — drawn from a different discipline, culture, time period, methodology, or species — is a small piece of the puzzle; assembled, they form a network no single objection can unravel. Saad adapts the idea from Darwin, who established natural selection by synthesising paleontology, embryology, animal husbandry, geology and comparative anatomy until the theory became impossible to argue against. The strength is not in any one box of evidence but in their consilience: a skeptic can wave away one dataset, but not five pointing the same way from wholly different origins.

Gad Saad developed the method in his evolutionary-psychology research and formalised it in chapter seven of The Parasitic Mind. He credits Darwin as the archetypal synthetic thinker who built such a network for natural selection decades before the term existed.

How to run it

Define the claim precisely
Pin down exactly what you want to establish, e.g. 'toy preferences are not purely socially constructed.' A vague claim cannot be triangulated.
Pro tip State it as a falsifiable proposition so each evidence line can clearly support or refute it.

Imagine the unassailable evidence set
Ask what body of data would be so overwhelming that even the most dogged detractor is drowned in it. This sets your collection target.

Collect independent evidence lines
Gather data from different disciplines, cultures, time periods, methodologies and paradigms — each an independent 'box' of the network. Saad uses pre-socialisation infants, congenital adrenal hyperplasia in girls, and primate species for the toy-preference claim.
Pro tip Prioritise sources that share no common bias so a critic can't explain them all away at once.

Confirm consilience
Check that every independent line points to the same conclusion. Convergence from unrelated origins is what makes the network unbreakable.

Present the network, not a single piece
Lead with the assembled body of converging evidence. Any one dataset can be dismissed; the whole network cannot.
Pro tip Apply the same method to non-scientific contested questions, not just empirical ones.
Watch out Skipping to a single 'killer' study invites the exact single-counterexample dismissal the method is built to defeat.
In the wild
To show boys' and girls' toy preferences aren't just parental conditioning, Saad assembles three independent lines: infants in the pre-socialisation stage (3-6 months) already show sex-specific preferences measured by eye gaze; girls with congenital adrenal hyperplasia, an endocrine disorder that masculinises them, show reversed, boy-like preferences; and vervet, rhesus and chimpanzee infants show the same sex-specific patterns. Developmental psychology, pediatric endocrinology and primatology all converge, from wholly different origins, on the same conclusion.
→ A social-constructivist critic would have to argue that primate parents share human patriarchal biases — a position that collapses under its own absurdity.
Common mistakes
Betting everything on one study
A single dataset, however strong, can be waved away by a motivated skeptic. The method's power comes from convergence, not depth in one place.
Stacking correlated evidence lines
Multiple studies from the same discipline or method share the same biases and failure modes, so they don't actually strengthen the network.
