Rate of behavior change he defines as intelligence, so someone who never changes behavior in identical conditions is, by this test, not smart regardless of how much they know. Applied to life: if you listen to a podcast and then, in the exact same conditions as before, do not change your behavior, you learned nothing. He illustrates with entrepreneurs who work all hours yet stay stuck at the same revenue for months — same inputs, same outputs — which by definition means no learning has occurred. How to run it

    Name the recurring condition

    Pick a situation you keep facing — a sales call, a revenue ceiling, a relationship pattern — that isn't improving.

    Test for behavior change

    Ask whether your behavior in that condition has genuinely changed. If it hasn't, you have same condition and same behavior.

    Pro tip Be honest — 'I know the lesson' is not the same as behaving differently.

    Watch out Exposure to information feels like progress but is not learning; don't confuse the two.

    Diagnose the result

    If inputs are unchanged and outputs are unchanged, conclude you've learned nothing yet — the problem is you, not the game.

    Change one input and observe

    Deliberately alter your behavior in that condition and watch whether the output moves. Repeated application, like repeated recall in memory, is what cements the lesson.

Hormozi's core image: you battle a boss, keep using the same move, and keep losing. You have not learned, because the condition and the behavior are identical. If the boss keeps beating you and you don't change what you're doing, it's not the game's problem — you are the problem.

The diagnostic makes stagnation unambiguous: unchanged behavior in unchanged conditions equals zero learning.

The stuck-entrepreneur hand-raise

On stage Hormozi asks a crowd to raise hands if they work all hours of the day — most do. He then asks who's been stuck at the same revenue level for six months or more, and tells them to keep their hands up. The same hands stay raised. His verdict: you put all your inputs in and the outputs haven't changed, so you've learned nothing.

Reveals that effort without behavior change and without output change means no learning has occurred.
